I've searched travel companies, researched hospitals, investigated neighborhoods, and all this since last November! I've found THE COMPANY, been contracted at a transient Trauma I, and found many great neighborhoods. But.....I still have NowhEre tO LiVe! Aughh! D-day is next Thursday. The first road trip to the first assignment. Everything, well most everything, is packed, boxed, DI'd, handed down to the little sis or stored at the parentals. I had NO idea how intensely difficult packing would be! I've lived in my place for 7yrs, that's 7yrs of accumulated memories, trinkets and CRAP. However, I did manage to weed out the ESSENTIALS.
If you have never searched Craigslist for a place to live, I suggest you try it, at least for the humor. It's amazing what people post. Messy beds, strange faces, cats. Lots of cats. What is it with cats? I can't live where there are cats. Especially old, dirty, unkempt cats. Can you even tell what that thing is?!?
Whoa, a bit off track there with the cats. Back to the housing situation. Travel companies are A-W-E-S-O-M-E because they find housing for you, or you can take the money and do it yourself. I chose to do the latter which was probably a big mistake for a first assignment. The BF, who's also an RN, and I just can't seem to agree on where to live. I want the city, he wants the suburbs. Suburbs!!
I grew up in the suburbs, and it's great and all, but here is an opportunity to live in an eclectic, artistic, coffee driven city and he doesn't want it. So I negotiated. We are living less than 10 mi from the city, where it's cheaper. Sure, whatever, I guess I'll just have to pay my student loans off earlier than planned.
In the meantime, I have already staked out a Glass Art Studio where I want to take classes, am searching for a PILATES studio, as well as a dance class. I'm very stoked to be able to live my lifestyle without needing overtime to do so. But who am I kidding, I'll probably find another hobby or great adventure and end up working extras.
But back to the point, I have no idea where I am going to live.
Hey Heather! This is going to be a great way to keep up with you! Thanks for doing it. I think you are going to have a blast.
